She previously served as a Member of the Finnish Parliament (1983\u20132003) and as Finland\u2019s Minister of the Environment (1991\u20131995).  <\/p><p data-start=\"206\" data-end=\"466\">In the European Parliament, she is a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) and the Committee on Women\u2019s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM), and a substitute member of the Committee on Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI) and the Committee on Public Health (SANT).<\/p><p data-start=\"468\" data-end=\"759\">Pietik\u00e4inen is known for combining environmental and economic perspectives. She is a strong advocate of the transition to a circular economy and sustainable finance.
