CIRC-2-ZERO is a project aiming at developing a web-based tool called Digital Twin Demo Platform (DTDP) for SMEs from two specific industries: Electronics and Engineered Wood Products. The platform is designed to provide tested solutions for circular product design and value chain optimisation.

The project also aim to align with EU circular economy development and business opportunities for SMEs. This perspective will be introduced by MEP Sirpa Pietikäinen in her keynote speech.

This webinar is organized as part of the CIRC-2-ZERO-project, that supports SMEs in developing and piloting circular economy solutions through international collaboration. CIRC-2-ZERO is a Interreg Baltic Sea Region funded project that started in early 2025 and ends in February 2028.

Sirpa Pietikäinen is an experienced European policymaker who has served as a Member of the European Parliament since 2008. She previously served as a Member of the Finnish Parliament (1983–2003) and as Finland’s Minister of the Environment (1991–1995).

In the European Parliament, she is a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) and the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM), and a substitute member of the Committee on Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI) and the Committee on Public Health (SANT).

Pietikäinen is known for combining environmental and economic perspectives. She is a strong advocate of the transition to a circular economy and sustainable finance. She has acted as the European Parliament’s lead negotiator on the first Sustainable Finance legislative initiatives and as Shadow Rapporteur on the Circular Economy Action Plan.
