Tartu Science Park Honey

Tartu Science Park honey is special for several reasons. Our jars are filled with honey from Meemeistrid – a small family business located in Nõmavere near Põltsamaa, for whom beekeeping is as much a way of life as it is a profession. Every spring, Raul and his family move from Tartu to the countryside to focus fully on beekeeping, bringing people pure, natural, and innovative honey.

This year, we added another scientific layer to our honey – we had its DNA analyzed at Celvia’s laboratory, which is also located in the Tartu Science Park business campus. Celvia provides the Honey Metagenomic DNA Analysis (MDA) service, identifying all the species that bees have come into contact with – from plants and fungi to microorganisms. The result is a unique genetic profile for each honey, revealing its origin and authenticity.

Innovation and nature come together in one small jar of honey – a sweet, science-based gift born from the collaboration of companies within Tartu Science Park.
