The Baltic Sea Games Award Ceremony

The Baltic Sea Games Award has been established to promote the games industries of the Baltic Sea Region, strengthening their ecosystems and encouraging talent and start-up growth.

The award takes two perspectives: creative quality and business potential. We had 25 submissions from the eight European countries adjacent to the Baltic Sea. An online jury of game experts chose the winners in the four categories “Best Game Design”, “Best Game Art”, “Best Game Audio” and “Best Game Narrative” – evaluating the creative quality angle.

The four winners become the finalists in the second phase for the Baltic Sea Games Award ceremony, a live pitch event with a group of distinguished investors / publishers as jurors, which will take place 16 November 2019, 17:00- 19:00h at GameOn, Hall 3, Entertainment Stage.

In addition to the jurors, the public will have a say: An online community vote prior to the event vote will have a stake in the final scoring. Vote HERE. Whoever will be deemed the best out of the four finalists after their pitching rounds, will receive the title “Best Start-up Game 2019”.

Best Game Audio – “Hexagroove” by Ichigoichie Games, Sweden

Hexagroove combines elements of strategy, rhythm, and action games in a unique blend of self- expression. Your goal as a DJ is to combine musical loops in real time to regulate a virtual audience’s energy, working them into a state of euphoria with your artistic skills. The action swings from contemplative to frantic as you move between song sections in one of ten dance music genres. Over time you’ll unlock new musical loops, DJ tricks, and club venues to play in. Perform together with up to three friends in your room or on the dance floor with this truly creative title.

Best Game Narrative – “Wanderlust Travel Stories” by Different Tales, Poland

You take the role of various modern travellers, live their adventures and shape their stories. Relish in discovery and awe, longing and hope as you journey from Africa to Antarctica, from Europe to Asia. The change brought by this odyssey will be your own.

We aimed at creating something different. A bridge between literary experiences and gaming. A title that is meant to be taken in, experienced and felt. Perfect when you’re traveling — or wishing you were.
