Dr. Alireza Taravat
Dr. Alireza Taravat has a PhD in Geoinformatics from University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, Dept. of Civil Engineering and Computer Science. He has more than 15 years of experience working in Remote Sensing field, in several industries and research domains. He contributed to multidisciplinary projects dealing with Remote Sensing of vegetation, ocean and land with different international organizations and companies active in Remote Sensing field. Alireza currently works as the senior Remote Sensing scientist/project manager for Deimos Space UK in Oxford and is undertaking several ESA and EU funded projects related to Earth Observation data analysis. Alireza serves as a reviewer for a majority of remote sensing journals. Moreover, he has a patent titled “Grassland monitoring by EO technologies” registered in the EU. He has been a contributor to the remote sensing community since its inception – presenting many ideas and managing workshop sessions. His areas of expertise are Remote Sensing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and computational imaging for earth observation applications.
